Beverly Clarke MBE
Beverly Clarke MBE is a tech education expert and leader whose career has been shaped by a belief that everyone should have the opportunity to understand, engage with and benefit from our increasingly digital world.
Her professional journey has taken her from corporate IT into the classroom, education consultancy, national curriculum development and advisory work. This breadth of experience gives Beverly a distinctive perspective on how technology, education, policy and industry connect — and, importantly, what those connections mean for people in practice.
Beverly is a recognised voice on artificial intelligence in education, digital citizenship, future skills and inclusive approaches to technology. She has contributed to work with the UK government and international organisations, supported schools navigating the transition towards Education 4.0, and continues to advocate for technology education that is relevant, accessible and forward-looking.
Alongside her speaking and advisory work, Beverly is a published author. Her book Computer Science Teacher offers an insight into the computing classroom and supports those entering the teaching profession, particularly computing teachers. She is also the creator of the Ava and Chip children’s book series, which introduces younger readers to the technology that surrounds them through stories designed to encourage curiosity and conversation.
Her commitment to widening access to technology extends beyond education. Beverly founded the charity Technology Books for Children, which promotes reading for pleasure about technology while helping to address social mobility and the digital divide.
Through her keynotes, writing and conversations, Beverly encourages people to think beyond the technology itself and consider the people, skills and choices that will shape our digital future. Her own journey — from humble beginnings to receiving an MBE for services to education — informs a practical and deeply human approach to conversations about change.
In 2025, Beverly was named the most influential woman in UK technology by Computer Weekly.
As a co-host of Tech Journey Insights, Beverly brings these different strands together, creating conversations that explore how people find their place in technology, how education and industry can better prepare us for what comes next, and what we can learn from the journeys of those helping to shape the future.
Rebecca Franks
Rebecca Franks is an award-winning technology educator, learning designer and entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in computing education. At the heart of her work is a commitment to making technology accessible, inclusive and engaging — particularly for those who may not traditionally see themselves as belonging in the world of computing.
Her career began in the classroom, where she spent more than 15 years teaching computing, leading the subject and supporting young people from a wide range of backgrounds. That experience continues to shape her approach today: technology education should not simply be about acquiring technical skills, but about giving people the confidence, creativity and opportunity to participate in an increasingly digital world.
Rebecca is Co-founder and Chief Learning Officer at Flip Computing, an education technology company focused on creating better learning experiences in computing and technology. As a highly experienced learning designer, she has contributed to national computing education initiatives and worked with organisations including the Micro:bit Educational Foundation, STEM Learning, Computing at School and Multiverse.
Her work also explores how emerging technologies can open up new ways for young people to create rather than simply consume technology. Through Flip Computing, Rebecca has been involved in the development of Flock XR, a 3D creation tool designed with accessibility and participation in mind, including working directly with young people in the classroom to shape learning experiences around it.
Inclusion runs throughout Rebecca’s work. She is particularly interested in removing barriers to participation in computing and ensuring that learners from underestimated and underrepresented groups have opportunities to develop digital skills, confidence and creativity. She also serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Technology Books for Children, supporting its work to help bridge the digital divide and widen access to technology-related learning.
In 2025, Rebecca’s contribution to technology education was recognised when she was named a TechWomen100 Award winner by WeAreTechWomen.
As Co-host of Tech Journey Insights, Rebecca brings the perspective of an educator, learning designer and technology entrepreneur to the conversation.
