Episode summary
Rebecca Franks and Beverly Clarke MBE begin by celebrating the launch of Flip Computing’s Storytelling with Music Fortnite island, developed through Innovate UK’s Creative Catalyst programme. They discuss how immersive learning experiences can engage learners in new ways and why education should embrace creativity rather than simply recreating the traditional classroom in virtual environments.
The conversation explores the future of education, from AI and data visualisation to virtual classrooms and the growing role of immersive technologies. Rebecca and Beverly argue that successful educational technology should be co-designed with learners, drawing on diverse perspectives to create experiences that are engaging, accessible and genuinely inclusive.
The episode also examines AI detection tools, digital menus, e-waste, repair cafés and technology design in everyday life. Throughout the discussion they encourage listeners to question assumptions, think critically about how technology is implemented and ensure that innovation always puts people first.
